To assist us in meeting our mission, Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger is seeking a Child Nutrition Communications Coordinator to join our team. The Communications Coordinator serves as a core member of Project Bread’s Communications Team, specifically focusing on supporting Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP) communications.
The successful candidate for this role will possess excellent organizational and communications skills. They will bring drive and creativity to the cause of promoting Project Bread’s work to improve access to quality school and summer meals for children across Massachusetts.
1. Manage promotional material development and distribution for school breakfast and Summer Eats.
- Develop public-facing marketing materials.
- Manage vendor relationships for design and printing of materials.
- Plan for large-scale material mailings to statewide partners throughout the year.
- Work with CNOP Outreach Coordinators to support development of local materials as needed.
2. Develop content to promote Project Bread’s work around school breakfast and Summer Eats to a variety of stakeholders.
- Manage CNOP email communications
- Manage CNOP presence across social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and develop content for Project Bread’s social platforms.
- Support content development and updates towww.meals4kids.org and www.projectbread.org website.
- Support elected official and key stakeholder engagement.
3. Highlight successful programs and raise awareness of school breakfast and Summer Eats through event management and press outreach.
- Coordinate multiple events yearly to promote school breakfast and Summer Eats programs in communities statewide.
- Manage communications around CNOP’s annual Summer Eats conference and support in planning conference sessions.
4. Maintain reporting and record-keeping.
- Assist with weekly, monthly, and annual reporting on deliverables to Project Bread leadership and funders.
- Maintain photo library, story bank, and related communications record-keeping.
- Participate in the annual Walk for Hunger, including working as event staff the weekend of the Walk, attending pre-Walk events as assigned, and supporting Walk for Hunger fundraising efforts.
- Supervise interns.
- Participate in organization-wide events and meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required, with two years of relevant experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, editing, and proofing skills
- Experience in non-profit or community-based work, food systems field preferred
- Understanding of brand identity and good eye for graphic quality
- Facility with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
- Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Adobe suite software
- Familiarity with Drupal and/or Wordpress
- Highly organized and efficient with time
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong strategic thinking; analytical, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team
- Excellent work ethic and achievement oriented
