About Bright Spot Farms:
Bright Spot Farms* is an urban farm social enterprise located in Wilmington, DE. We grow vegetables and annual and perennial flower crops on two acres, selling these products to local restaurants, at farmer’s markets, and at our greenhouse. We also provide landscaping services for select contracts. Our farm business serves as the hands-on classroom for our youth programs.
We need an enthusiastic, flexible, team-oriented individual to lead the farm’s production, marketing, and sales of organically produced vegetables. The main goal of this position is to continue to build BSF’s farm production and marketing through improving on existing farm production processes and infrastructure. The secondary goal of this position is to work with and supervise at-risk young adults 14-24 in the production and sales of fresh produce. This position is full-time year-round at an urban farm that focuses on working with the unemployed and underemployed, including veterans, individuals with criminal backgrounds, and at-risk youth. The hours for this position vary seasonally, with summers requiring longer hours, and will require occasional evenings and weekends. The Assistant Farm Manager is required to have a reliable mode of transportation to and from work. The Farm Manager (FM) will report to the Program Director and will manage daily operations for the field vegetable production. The FM will coordinate with the Ag Education Specialist in supervising trainees during their vegetable production rotations.
Compensation is competitive and includes a full benefit package including paid time off, medical, dental and life insurance, and employer contribution to retirement plan.
