Greensgrow is a non-profit, social entrepreneurship project that has been
creating innovative urban agriculture programs since 1997. We operate two
community-based garden centers, summer and winter CSA programs, local
farmstands, Mobile Markets and affordable food share programs serving a
diverse constituency. Greensgrow also manages a community kitchen that serves
as an entrepreneurial incubator for local food producers and consults
internationally with civic and governmental entities. Successful team members
will bring a sense of humor, flexibility in their role and a commitment to our
core values of caring for people, planet, quality, and transparency. As a
working farm, all employees are expected to help as needed with tasks outside
their formal job description, including chasing chickens, shoveling snow,
cleaning the kitchen and giving tours.
As a member of Greensgrow’s Fresh Food Team, the Offsite Programs Coordinator
will coordinate all logistics of running the Mobile Markets program, including
operating the market vehicle and managing all market sales. This individual
will contribute to grant writing efforts, setting and adhering to budget goals
and developing new retail outlets. They will also support the Fresh Food
Team’s efforts in operating the Farmstand and CSA programs.
Successful candidates should have a genuine interest in supporting food access
efforts, some knowledge or willingness to learn about local produce
availability, farm practices and merchandising and comfort in dealing with
members of the public.
★ Operate the mobile market two to four days a week making stops at senior
centers, a health center and our CSA offsite locations across the city.
★ Work closely with the Produce Buyer to order produce for the mobile market
and track produce loss
★ Work closely with the Produce Buyer and Community Kitchen Manager on
purchasing and processing “second-chance” produce from local growers
★ Work closely with the Americorps VISTA on developing and administering
★ Speak knowledgeably about all forms of payment we accept, including SNAP
benefits, FMNP checks and Philly Food Bucks
★ Experience operating or willingness to learn how to operate a wireless
★ Interest in building partnerships and developing new business opportunities
★ Provide an exemplary customer experience and maintain a genuine interest in
creating a culture of health and success in the communities we serve
★ Valid driver’s license
★ Comfort driving larger vans/trucks
★ Able to safely lift 30 pounds or more
★ Must be able to work evenings and weekends
This is a seasonal (June-November) 32-40 hours per week position paid biweekly
at $14/hour with the potential to go year-round depending on funding. This
position is eligible for commensurate staff benefits, including a farm share,
acupuncture and paid time-off.
