About the Position
Under the supervision of the Manager of Nutrition Programs, CPHD, develop, implement and coordinate activities in Cambridge to promote healthy eating and active living with a focus on policy, practices, systems changes to create an environment that promotes healthy choices. Develop and implement collaborations, initiatives, and related program and outreach activities citywide.
Coordinate and collaborate on developing, planning, implementing, tracking, and evaluating policy and program initiatives to support healthy eating, physical activity and healthy weight in Cambridge. Collaborate on Cambridge in Motion strategies, including implementation of strategies, education and marketing, including social media as well as outreach to the community to create an environment that promotes healthy eating and active living. Develop, implement and assist with coordination of educational programming and presentations, initiatives and outreach targeted to the community, including city and non-profit program staff, families, children, seniors, and other as appropriate regarding healthy eating and physical activity. Assist with communications, marketing, and outreach about departmental, collaborative, Cambridge in Motion and related activities, including social media. Co-lead the Cambridge Food and Fitness Policy Council. Foster collaboration and coordination among members to develop policy recommendations, and coordination and implementation of actions. Develop implement, and coordinate efforts of school health nursing with nutrition staff to promote healthy eating, physical activity and healthy weight in the schools. In partnership with school food service and other stakeholders help improve the appeal and nutrition quality of school meals and the school environment as it influences healthy eating and physical activity. Coordinate outreach, assessment, educational programming and technical assistance for out-of-school-time programs to promote and engage the staff in changes and the development of policies and practices to support healthy eating and physical activity. Participate in committee/coalition work, such as the SNAP Match coalition, the Water Task Force, the 5-2-1 Workgroup/School Wellness Council Sub Committee of the Healthy Children Task Force.
Education/Training Master's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related field.
Licensure/Certification Licensed Nutritionist/Dietitian in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
Work Experience Minimum of 2 years recent related experience in clinical or community settings. Demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Previous experience in education and prevention activities, assisting or leading community initiatives, conducting formal and informal presentations
