Job Description:


Corbin Hill Food Project (CHFP) is a New York City community based organization whose mission is to supply fresh food to that need it most. Launched in 2009, CHFP is a mission-driven non-profit that works with local supply partners to distribute fresh food through its Farm Share and Institutional programs. Guided by values of social justice, food sovereignty, racial equity, and financial sustainability, CHFP works to intentionally serve vulnerable populations. CHFP works with more than 30 community-based partners across New York City.


About the Position

We are currently recruiting an individual who has professional experience executing a variety of outreach activities including strategy development. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed for this position, as well as the ability to self-start and work independently and work well in teams. A strong interest in food sovereignty, racial equity, supply chains and working with communities.

The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing outreach and engagement strategies to grow Corbin Hill Food Project’s programs. It is expected that he / she will identify and cultivate new opportunities for partnerships and liaise with existing program partners. This position will require extensive time outside of the office throughout New York City. The Outreach Coordinator will also contribute to all aspects of communications, including branding and development of promotional materials. A solutions-oriented attitude is essential to the success of this position. CHFP is a small team so it is expected that all staff members actively contribute to problem-solving and idea sharing.



  • Develop and implement outreach, community engagement and sales strategies to increase the number of Shareholders at existing Farm Share sites, including but not limited to, presentations, tabling, flyering, attending community meetings and forming relationships with community partners, designing incentives and promotions, etc.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategy for launching new Farm Share sites and reinvigorating the Institutional program
  • Cultivate relationships with community-based organizations and groups to expand the reach of Farm Share and Institutional programs
  • Work seamlessly with team members to identify outreach opportunities and new partners
  • Coordinate and staff outreach events; attend relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils, roundtables and committees; represent CHFP to the wider public
  • Responsible for recruiting, managing and coordinating volunteers
  • Coordinate with interns and staff in targeted outreach implementation
  • Collaborate in development of promotional materials and branding; develop original content for newsletter

Qualifications and Background


  • Minimum BA/BS in
    • food systems
    • agriculture
    • business
    • environmental science or studies or policy
    • economics
    • political science
    • anthropology or related fields.


  • At least three years of related experience including
    • Community outreach and engagement or customer service
    • Working in food systems
    • Working within socially and economically vulnerable communities


  • Has a strong performance orientation and skillful strategic thinking
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Solutions-oriented and results driven
  • Desire and commitment to make this innovative social enterprise successful
  • Knowledge of local (NY-region) food space; farmers, producers, distributors, etc.
  • Working knowledge of NYC neighborhoods
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office platform (i.e. Excel, Word) and Google platform (i.e. Google drive, Google docs, sheets, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CRM system like Salesforce
  • Ability to work well independently and in teams
  • Professional demeanor and ability to prioritize responsibilities and function effectively during stressful or busy periods
  • Excellent organizational and information management with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding and commitment to CHFP mission, vision and values
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speakers strongly preferred
