CARAT Cohort Application Due Feb 14 2025
The North American Food Systems Network will host a new CARAT Cohort of representative organizations from 12 communities from throughout the US in 2025. This highly interactive experience will be organized based on best practices & lessons learned from our CARAT Cohort of 2024.
The goal of each applicant organization will be to plan, promote, conduct, complete, and locally distribute a full CARAT assessment of their community this year.
Applicants may be nonprofit organizations, food policy councils, government agencies, or community-based consultants.

The CARAT Cohort 2025 will meet monthly on Mondays for 2 hours, 1pm-3pm EST, on these dates:
* March 17, 2025
* April 21, 2025
* May 19, 2025
* June 16, 2025
* July 21, 2025
* August 18, 2025
* September 15, 2025
* October 20, 2025
* November 17, 2025
Strong applicant organizations will be able to:
* show established leadership in their food/ag community;
* support at least one paid facilitator from your org to manage the project (approx 8 hrs/wk x 32 wks);
* fully participate virtually in all cohort meetings on the dates listed above;
* define the community (county/counties or region) it intends to audit using the CARAT tool;
* finish a CARAT audit of their community by November 17, 2025;
* share findings with a wide diversity of stakeholders throughout their community once the audit is finished.
All applications will be reviewed and considered; only 12 will be selected.
NAFSN will provide coordination and technical assistance at no charge to participating communities.
