Job Detail: Grant Coordinator

About: 

Coordinate and administer the Graduate Student Research grant program and the Research for Novel Approaches grant program for the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program of USDA, which funds applied research projects in 12 Northeast States and the District of Columbia. Provide specialized technical expertise in support of Northeast SARE’s designated sustainable agriculture research initiatives and areas within UVM/NIFA/USDA guidelines across a highly diverse range of research topics. Update calls for proposals and review criteria as needed, administer all aspects of the grant review process including facilitating review team meetings, read all proposals, compile and analyze review team results, synthesize comments to provide feedback to applicants, verify regulatory compliance for approved proposals, finalize awards for contracting, support principle investigators in project progress and reporting, compile data and create reports about the grant programs, make occasional site visits to funded projects, and assist in promoting the grant programs and their impacts.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with two to four years of experience conducting applied research projects in a field related to sustainable agriculture required. Familiarity with principles and practices of sustainable agriculture research required. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences including scientists, graduate students, agricultural service providers, nonprofit personnel, and businesses required. Experience producing written reports and managing data using spreadsheets required. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work with a team, and coordinate projects required.
