About AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA is a full time, 12-month service learning opportunity to fight poverty by building the capacity of high-impact organizations through indirect service (opposed to direct service). Examples of indirect service may include organizing a fundraiser, setting up a partnership in the community, writing grants, etc. VISTA Members will support a project host site that is committed to empower underrepresented populations to have impact on food-related programs and services, and the food system in Connecticut as a whole. The CT Food Justice VISTA Project is recruiting for 13 VISTA Members starting August 28, 2017.
The Connecticut Food Justice VISTA Project seeks to build the capacity of high-impact organizations focused on community food security and food justice. With VISTA Member support, organizations commit to empowering underrepresented populations to have meaningful input on food-related programs and services. Organizations will share best practices and learn new skills in engaging people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. University of Connecticut Extension, in partnership with some of the most effective and innovative nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, is coordinating the fifth year of this multi-site project.
