About:

Urban Gleaners' collects delicious, fresh food before it can go to waste and we get it to people who need it. Pure and simple. We have more than 60 food donors, and 65 volunteers who pick up and repack food for distribution. We deliver nearly a million pounds of fresh food to school pantries, our Mobile Markets, and Summer Free Farmers Markets throughout the year. We share our food, at no cost, with more than 4,000 people each week, focusing our efforts on children and their families.


Position Summary: The Program Director will be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of our food-rescue and delivery programs at Urban Gleaners. This role will manage the program team and report to the Executive Director.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Manage and maintain community outreach:
  • Solicit new food donors and act as a steward for existing donors.
  • Work with local school, government, and non-profit partners
  • Pantry oversight and management:
  • Supervise and support program staff, interns, and volunteers as needed
  • Deepen organizational relationships in under-served communities and identify growth opportunities for new areas of service
  • Manage organizational communications:
  • Maintain and update Urban Gleaners' website and all marketing materials
  • Program administration and management:
  • Manage vendor and donor contracts, invoicing and in-kind tracking for all program related expenses and contributions
  • Collaborate with staff, Board of Directors, diverse volunteer group and community partners with respect and strategic mindfulness
  • Oversee program technology and databases (Office, Kindful, Quickbooks, and Access)


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of successful program management and direct supervision experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with attention to details
  • Proven track record of prioritizing and delegating time-sensitive tasks
  • Familiarity with database management
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Multilingual
  • Experience managing volunteer-run programs with a diverse population
  • Familiarity with hunger and poverty in the Portland Metro area, including Washington County


Salary & Benefits:

  • 50-55K annual salary
  • Fully paid health benefits
  • 2 weeks paid time off annually
